Gunfire Rattles Capital of Equatorial Guinea

“A contingent of rebel terrorists from the Delta arrived in numerous boats and tried to invade the capital, with the aim of taking and destroying the presidential palace,” a government [EQUATORIAL GUINEA) statement said, suggesting that the invaders’ intention was, indeed, to attack the government.

Now how do we trully want the rest of the world to have a different view of Africa with this kind of events?

Are we that immature, that pathetic? or is that the wealth at stake is just too large for theses guys to stay still?

What will it take for African nations to handle once and for all these rebel groups? I am certainly a advocate of diplomacy but sometimes one must ask these hard questions? Are these rebel groups really fighting for the rights of people or for their own greed and "soif" of power?

  1. I was just on that NY times website, 23 of the 31 articles on Africa were negative stories. Most are about crisis and they cover all the regions... the 8 stories which were somewhat positive came from election preps in South Africa and the Zimbabwe updates, which most africans are being skeptical about

  2. Hey Alassane,
Welcome to the blogosphere. However, does a blog tagged "crisisafrica.blogspot.com," not feed into the dominant and dominating narratives on Africa? Does that not then lead to the explanation and interpretation of African issues with "crisis" blinders on? Just curious...
